Mommy, I am so small
Barely reach your waist
You bend over to kiss me
With your love's tender grace
It doesn't really matter
I will grow up some day
To hold your hand so tightly
When your strength starts to fray
My little tantrums make a furrow
Upon your sweet, loving face
But mommy, can you still love me
Like there's no tomorrow?
For tomorrow I may never see
Daddy, I am so young
So much to learn from you have I
When your arms encircle me
Fears of monsters, away they fly
You taught me to ride a bike
Some day it will be your car
I hope I will grow to be
An expert that you are
My pranks bring that look of sorrow
When your attention it is I seek
But daddy, can you still love me
Like there's no tomorrow?
For tomorrow I may never see
It may be the story differently unfolds
And pages aren't written as planned
I know not what the future holds
Or if I will hear the school bells toll
Just in case they come in flying...
It's not angels of which I speak
Through that door or hallway
To plant bullets upon my cheek
Just so you know, I love you so
Your tight embrace that I did borrow
For so short a time on earth to keep
Tell me, can you still love me
Like there is no tomorrow?
For tomorrow I may never see.
